Saturate (Piano and Modular Improvisation)

August 2, 2019

Playing lots of notes until they sound like very little notes. The idea behind this one is playing sort of into the modular. Not only in the sense of feeding the piano through some effects on the modular but playing with the dynamics and the response of the different effects until you are playing the effect without twisting any knobs.

Patch notes:

The piano is recorded with two Oktava Mk12s and fed through the Thermionic Culture Vulture and into the modular. It then goes through the Befaco Crush Delay which has a fairly long delay time so the sound is starting to break up. It then goes into the 4ms DLD for some stereo delay goodness and finaly into clouds for pitch shifting and reverb. The resulting sound was fed through the Culture Vulture again in post production for more saturation.
